Photoshop Portrait - Before and After

Okay be subtle when touching up portrait images, a little goes a long way. Have a look at both images and see if you can pull the retouched image apart. I'll give you a step by step soon. As usual, click on each image to bring it up to size.

Have you lifted up the Shadow areas, Darkened the highlights, fixed up a scar and then sharpened the overall shot.

Certainly on the right track. I'll post the steps in the next couple of days.

Apart from the Photoshop work, any suggestions on how the lighting was done?

I guess you have used studio lights of some sort for the lighting but hopefully you are going to tell us - a lovely photo and keep up the good work on the blog. Love it.

No just one strobe, but the question is how?

Okay, so how do you get one light to do two jobs. Light the subject and light the background as well. Easy, set up your camera to the left and your flash to the right and make sure your angles between the flash and the camera match up. That way you'll get part of the light hitting the subject and part of the light coming back to your camera as a specular reflection. Had I cropped the image in any way I would have cropped out the specular reflection which is not what I had in mind.
